Under the provision of Punjab Board of Technical Education (Amendment) Act 1971 which was further amended by the Act of Punjab Assembly called "Punjab Board of Technical Education (Amendment) Act 1977, Punjab Technical Board Education (PBTE) was established with the mandate to control, develop and regulates Technical, commerce & vocational education throughout the province.
